In India, 12 of 94 buffaloes were found to be infected with Setaria cervi and Onchocerca armillata; blood samples were analysed, with 10 uninfected animals as controls. Infected animals had lowered haemoglobin and serum calcium, phosphate, sodium, potassium and albumin levels. The erythrocyte sedimentation rate, serum glucose, SGOT, SGPT and serum globulin were all raised. Serum glucose, SGOT, Serum creatinine and total serum protein were little changed. The pathological implications are briefly discussed.
