The article presents the small family outbreak of trichinella infection following consumption of grilled wild boar meat. The meat had been analyzed by traditional method of trichinoscopy. Polish legal regulations accept the method of trichinoscopy for investigation of wild boar meat; however, this method showed lower sensitivity and carried the risk of missed diagnosis despite the presence of larvae trichinellosis. Thus the method requires high temperature meat processing or deep meat freezing. Veterinary surgeon performing the investigation should always instruct the consumer that high temperature meat processing is necessary in cases of application of method of trichinoscopy.
