The phlebotomine sandflies (Diptera: Psychodidae) from Rajasthan, India, with description of Sergentomyia (Sintonius) sirohi sp. Nov

In October-November 1971, 181 Phlebotomids representing two species of Phlebotomus and 12 of Sergentomyia were collected with an aspirator from indoor and outdoor habitats in six districts of Rajasthan State, India. Collection data are given for these 14 species. The commonest was S. bailyi (Sinton), which made up 39.2% of the total, and the next abundant was S. sirohi sp. n. (17.1%), which is described from 2 females and 24 males collected outdoors from rock crevices in Sirohi District. Two other species of Sergentomyia thought to be new are described from males only but not named. The two species of Phlebotomus were P. papatasi (Scop.) and P. sergenti Parr., which were collected only indoors.
