Anopheles vagus Don. has been incriminated as playing a part in the transmission of malaria in North Vietnam, but its role in South Vietnam has been considered negligible. Females from a laboratory colony were fed on the arm of patients infected with P falciparum. Gametocytes were found in the mosquitos the day after the infected meal, but no parasites were found among the 669 females dissected on days 3-16. Thus, it is clear that the parasites could not complete their life-cycle in these mosquitos.
