Seven batches of A. sinensis from Zhengzhou district, China, were fed on a patient with Plasmodium vivax malaria. Of 485 mosquitoes dissected afterwards, 60.4% contained oocysts and sporozoites. The infection rate was related to the number and sex ratio of gametocytes in the donor's blood. When A. sinensis from Zhengzhou, Xinyang and Shanghai districts were fed on the donor together, over 85% became infected. A. sinensis containing sporozoites were infective for 8 days at 26 plus or minus 1 deg C.
