Female Anopheles litoralis derived from females caught on Luzon Island, Philippines, were fed on a patient with 2000 Plasmodium vivax/mm3 of blood, of which 2% were mature female and 1% mature male gametocytes. One of 11 mosquitoes still alive after 15 days was heavily infected with sporozoites in the salivary glands.
