Evaluation of fluocinonide cream

An open trial of fluocinonide 0.05% in FAPG cream on 84 patients with different steroid sensitive dermatoses was conducted. The diagnoses included psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, nummular eczema, chronic eczematous dermatitis, lichen simplex chronicus, acne vulgaris, lichen planus, granuloma annular, pruritus ani, pickers nodules, discoid lupus erythematosus, perioral dermatitis and toxic erythema. In the majority of cases fluocinonide cream produced excellent results after unoccluded application four times daily for 14 days. No unfavorable side effects were noted and no patients dropped out of the study. The findings suggest that fluocinonide is an excellent addition to the topical corticosteroid agents that are available for clinical use at the present time.
