The packed cell volume in 500 samples has been determined using a centrifugal method and a new electronic instrument for rapid processing of large numbers of blood samples. The effects on the P.C.V. of variations in plasma proteins, electrolytes, anticoagulant concentrations and leucocyte counts have also been studied.
