P. papatasi were collected from Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, India. Three replicates of each population and controls were tested against 4% DDT, 0.4% dieldrin, 5% malathion and 0.025% deltamethrin. Exposure time was one hour in all tests and mortality was recorded after 24 h. The population of P. papatasi was highly resistant to DDT as compared with the population of West Bengal. However, the sandflies from West Bengal were highly resistant to dieldrin and partially resistant to malathion. Both population was susceptible to deltamethrin.
