Separation and identification of the compounds from Achyranthes bidentata Bl

Eight compounds were separated from the roots of Achyrathes bidentata by repeated chromatography. On the basis of physicochemical properties and spectral analysis their structures were elucidated as alpha-spinasterol (1), beta-sitosterol (2), chrysophanol (3), dibutyl phthalate (4), palmitic acid (5), alpha-spinasterol-3-O-beta-D-glucoside (6), daucosterol (7) and ecdysterone (8). Compounds 1 apprx 7 were isolated from the plant for the first time.
