Pediatric gynecology as an interdisciplinary field of pediatrics and gynecology deals with the disorders of the female genital organs from birth to sexual maturity. Important tasks in this field include prophylactic measures and early diagnosis. Disorders of sexual differentiation, tumors in the genital tract and endocrine diseases require early diagnosis to prevent severe physical and psychic trauma. The gynecologist dealing with pediatric gynecology must have a well-founded knowledge of the various processes of maturation. The physician should allow enough time for the examination of the patient and have the necessary empathy.
