The effect of autologous serum on mitogen stimulation of peripheral blood lymphocytes in minipigs during chronic alcohol intoxication

Stimulation index parameters of washed lymphocytes were studied in mini pigs under chronic alcohol intoxication and in a control group of animals. No reliable difference was observed between the two groups. Autologous serum from both control and experimental groups of animals significantly suppressed mitogen-induced lymphocyte blast transformation without concomitant cell death. No discrepancies were noticed in the absolute number of lymphocytes in 1 cubic millimeter of peripheral blood in animals from both groups.
