Bioelectrical activity was studied in the left and right parietal cortex of nonanesthetized Wistar rats, by recording the power spectrum of encephalograms under the conditions of ischemia caused by complete ligation of the left carotid artery and limitation of blood flow in the right common carotid artery up to 50% of the initial level. Ischemia resulted in pronounced and stable disturbances of bioelectrical activity manifesting in decreased total EEG power, inhibition of the predominant frequency in the theta-range, increased power of the delta-range and interhemispheric asymmetry of some spectrogram characteristics.
