A case is reported in a 78-yr-old man who had a 2-wk history of fever, dyspnoea and expectoration of small quantities of non-purulent material. He died shortly after admission, and autopsy revealed pulmonary silicosis and disseminated tuberculosis, which was, however, not present in the larynx. Microscopy showed hyperkeratosis of the larynx and there was an exudate containing yeast cells and hyphae. Candida was present only in the larynx.
