A study of 87 children assessed the effectiveness of a supplementary feeding program for treating moderate and severe malnutrition in Trinidad, and the effect of supervision and education on ameliorating this malnutrition. The program increased mean body weight as that reported in similar studies, but weight increase was slow when considering improvement relative to reference weight for age. Supervision improved the rehabilitation rate but markedly increased rehabilitation cost. The program had produced an improved diet quality, as measured 4 months after program discontinuation. (wz)
