Characterization of three homogeneous canine immunoglobulins

Three homogeneous immunoglobulins were isolated from the serum or urine of three dogs with plasma cell dyscrasia. Antigenic and physicochemical properties of the proteins showed that one was a macroglobulin, second a gamma A myeloma paraprotein, and the third a Bence Jones protein. Physical, chemical and immunologic analysis confirmed the production of myeloma paraproteins by certain dogs with plasma cell dyscrasia and suggested their suitability for further elucidating the nature of canine immunoglobulins. In addition, such pure proteins should prove useful for comparative amino acid sequence analyses with human and murine myeloma proteins.
