The cells supported the replication of all three viruses. They were less susceptible to canine herpes-virus than secondary dog kidney cultures but, up to the 125th sub-culture, gave larger and more clearly defined plaques under agar. High dilutions of distemper virus produced an obvious cytopathic effect in secondary cultures within 12 days but required 3-4 weeks to produce a similar effect in kidney cell monolayers.
