Food aid supported development projects can, more than any other form of assistance, make a substantial contribution to countries in the implementation of plans of action aimed at the elimination of identified causes of ill-health, hunger and malnutrition, such as low income, poor assets, poor health, communicable diseases, low education, or poor housing sanitation. This paper examines the usefulness of food aid in the development process, and looks at how it can be incorporated into the Plan of Action proposed by the International Conference on Nutrition.
