A KAP study in the scheduled caste population of Visakhapatnam in AP

A sample of 200 scheduled caste women of Gopalapatnam region, Andhra Pradesh, aged 14-49 was randomly selected to study their knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) regarding family planning. The results revealed that the knowledge of permanent methods (vasectomy, tubectomy) is widespread. Three or fewer children are considered as ideal by 78.5% of women. The Xsuperscript 2 value reveals that the difference in the number of living children between adopter and non-adopter couples is statistically significant.
