Microbiological study of leucorrhoea cases in Visakhapatnam

The organisms responsible for leucorrhoea in 150 women at a gynaecological department and a hospital for sexually transmitted diseases in Visakhapatnam, India, were identified. The patients were aged 15 to > 40 years, with peak incidence of leucorrhoea in the 20-29 year age group. Trichomonas vaginalis was present in 11% and Candida sp. in 13% of the women. Sensitivity patterns to various antibiotics were investigated.
