Tests for pectinases were made on Ditylenchus dipsaci maintained on onion callus and free from micro-organisms, and on the callus tissue separately. Healthy onion callus does not produce pectolytic enzymes but they are present in infected callus where they are associated with the nematodes and not with the host tissue.
