"Wando" pea is susceptible to Ditylenchus dipsaci from Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, (RNC) but resistant to the same species from Waynesville, North Carolina (WNC). Homogenates of RNC and WNC were analysed for pectolytic and cellulolytic enzyme activity; both had high Cx activity, with WNC 2 to 3 times more active than RNC. Polymethylgalacturonase activity was 3 to 5 times higher in RNC, but polygalacturonase was up to 100 times higher in WNC.
