Concerning the safety of fluconazole, there are, to date, no data in fungemic pregnant women with T glabrata infection, regarding safety or teratogenicity of this azole compound. From the ethical point of view, systemic antifungal chemotherapy was indicated despite pregnancy because fungemia was life threatening in this patient presenting septic shock with multiple organ failure.
