An enzyme preparation with milk clotting activity was isolated from Bacillus subtilis by saturating the wheat bran medium with (NH4)2SO4 at 4 degrees C. Casein for adsorption was prepared from skim-milk by iso-electric precipitation at pH 4. 6 using 2N HC1; the casein was washed, ground to 50-200 mesh size and mixed with phosphate buffer, C2H5OH and Ca salt.
