In comparison with healthy lymphocytes, cells infected with bovine leukosis virus had increased activity of gamma- glutamyltransferase, trypsin inhibitor, papain inhibitor and aldolase, diminished proteolytic activity towards casein, and a low histomucoid content. The activity of 2 out of 7 metabolism substrates was subnormal. These changes provided evidence of disorders of carbohydrate and protein metabolism in infected lymphocytes.
