The dot immunobinding assay on nitrocellulose, based on the use of the LIG 4 monoclonal antibody, was modified for rapid semiquantitative determination of immunoglobulins M (IgM) in porcine serum. The method was used in two modifications. In the first modification, the examined serum was first transferred onto nitrocellulose whereas in the other modification the monoclonal antibody was the first to be bound. The latter modification enables to prepare and keep nitrocellulose with the monoclonal antibody, thus shortening the process of examination. Both modifications were compared with the ELISA method. The correlation coefficient of r = 0.87 and r = 0.91 was calculated between the two modifications and porcine serum; immunoglobulins M; dot immunobinding assay on nitrocellulose; monoclonal antibody.
