The authors describe the technique of measuring chorionic gonadotropin in the blood serum, urine, and other biological fluids of the body. The major parameters of solid-phase enzyme immunoassay have been optimized. Isolation and preparation of the antigen, obtaining of antibodies, and the technique of the sandwich assay are described. The time course of the hormone excretion in normal pregnancy over the gestation cycle was examined in trials of the method, whose data coincided with the literature data. The suggested method for measuring chorionic gonadotropin may be useful in the diagnosis of early pregnancy terms, for monitoring the therapy efficacy, and on many other occasions.
