Tuberculosis of the esophagus. A case report

A case of tuberculosis of the esophagus was reported. A 35 year-old man was suffering from dysphagia for the past one month. Roentgenogram of the esophagus disclosed a rounded and sharply demarcated filling defect at the level of the bifurcation. Resected esophageal lesion showed penetration of the tuberculous lymphnode to the esophageal wall. Histologically there were caseous partially calcified tuberculous nodules in the esophageal wall. The esophageal mucosa was intact. Some comments concerning 16 cases of tuberculosis of the esphagus reported in Japan were presented.
