A new analytical method for the determination of 3-methylhistidine in urine has been developed. The method depends on HPLC revelation of the derivative of 3-methylhistidine with the reagent ninhydrin/OPA at 405 nm. Because of its reproducitability, accuracy and precision, the method is ideal for monitoring neuromuscular diseases.
