Hemolytic activity of eight Kanagawa positive strains of Vibrio parahemolyticus was not cured by plasmid curing agents like acridine orange and ethidium bromide. No plasmid bands could be detected in 8 K+ and 8 K- strains by agarose gel electrophoresis, indicating that Kanagawa reactivity may not be a plasmid mediated character.
