The immunological response measured by gel diffusion of albino rats to Fasciola hepatica

Rats were orally inoculated with 8 F. hepatica metacercariae when 3 (group 1) or 11 (group 2) weeks old; their sera were tested by gel diffusion every 2 weeks until the rats were killed at 19 weeks of age. Reactive lines appeared 4 and 2 weeks pi in groups 1 and 2, respectively; the reactions were more intense in group 1. 6 rats from each group (of 12) were found to be infected with 1-3 flukes/rat, without significant differences between groups.
