Ten toxoplasma-free and coccidia-free cats were infected by mouth with massive doses of avirulent strains of T. gondii. The mandibular, popliteal and mesenteric lymph nodes became enlarged and diarrhoea developed. One cat also had haemorrhagic enteritis. Toxoplasma was recovered from jejunum, duodenum, colon and lymph nodes. Schizonts and gamonts were demonstrated in the small intestine.
