Effect of bilateral hysterectomy on the liver protein metabolism in albino rats

Bilateral hysterectomy was performed in adult wistar strain albino rats and the hepatic tissue protein profiles were compared with the controls. Hysterectomy led to decreased liver proteolysis with an overall accumulation of protein fractions (total, soluble and structural) and nucleic acids. Amino acid oxidations and transaminations were accelerated. The tissue showed improved ammonia detoxificatory after hysterectomy.
