Lesions involving the junction of the oesophagus and rumen are described in the absence of liver or lung involvement. In all of Marsh's cases classic liver lesions were present, but this was not so in these cases. The factors which led to the invasion of the epithelial lining and establishment of infection in this unusual site, are obscure.
