Counterimmunoelectrophoresis in urinary candidiasis

Countercurrent immunoelectrophoresis (CIE) was carried out in sera from patients with urinary candidiasis and superficial candidiasis and apparently healthy persons. Soluble cytoplasmic antigen was used for CIE. The CIE was positive only in patients with urinary candidiasis and no precipitation lines were seen in superficial candidiasis and apparently healthy persons. There was a good correlation between the candida aggluatination titre, complement fixation test and CIE, but CIE is rapid, less time consuming and useful in the diagnosis of urinary candidiasis.
