The Proteus intestinal infection followed by the agent dissemination in the organism was reproduced in mongrel albino mice by the peroral infection with the purpose to study the pathogenic Proteus potential. The Proteus has already appeared in organs 15-30 min after the infection, reaching the maximal level in all animals by 6-12 h; a degree of dissemination was found to depend on the agent dose. The Proteus presence in organs evoked their morphological changes. So, "epitheliitis" with the lympho-leukocytic infiltration of the base of the mucous and submucous layers, syndrome of disseminated intravascular blood coagulation, especially pronounced in lungs and kidneys, the focal lympho-leukocytic reaction from the interstice of these organs have developed in small and large intestines and the activation of cells in the system of mononuclear phagocytes of the liver and lungs has appeared. The mentioned permits supposing that not only the intestinal tube but also lungs and kidneys play an important role in the pathogenesis of the Proteus infection.
