Efficacy of the preparation Phospho-jet in the treatment of puerperal hemoglobinuria in dairy cows in Greece

Nineteen German Black Pied cows with puerperal haemoglobinuria, probably due to a phosphorus-deficient diet associated with the feeding of sugar-beet waste, were treated on 3 consecutive days with i/v injections of "Phospho-jet" at a rate of 10 ml/100 kg live weight, each ml containing 100 mg of sodium dimethylaminophenyl-phosphonate. Serum phosphorus and haematocrit values rose after the first treatment, and at the same time appetite and milk yield improved and returned to normal within 2 weeks. The urine regained its normal colour 1-4 days after the beginning of treatment.
