Preliminary results in the treatment of ovarian cysts in cows with a synthetic releasing factor preparation

In 65 Friesian cows with ovarian cysts, hyperoestrus occurred in 32.4%, irregular cycles in 30.7%, anoestrus in 27.7% and normal cycles in 9.3%. The right ovary was affected in 44.6%, the left in 26.2% and both in 29.2%. Treatment with a synthetic gonadotrophin releasing preparation at 100 mg eliminated cysts from 90.7% of ovaries, and 75.3% of cows became pregnant. Treatment of 27 control cows also with ovarian cysts, with various HCG preparations resulted in 63.3% clinical recovery and 55.5% pregnancy.
