Aflatoxins B and M were estimated in urine of Indian children with cirrhosis, in milk from their mothers and in the ingredients of the diet given to the children. Aflatoxin B was present in 7% of the urine samples from cirrhotic children but in 10% of the samples from healthy children. Aflatoxin M was not present in any urine sample examined. Most children were weaned on to a diet of parboiled rice and groundnut oil. When examined, almost all the oil samples contained aflatoxin B.
