The authors compared the sensitivity, the specificity and the positive rate of the SPAIF method with FA-USA method in detecting Salmonella in 200 meat samples. The result showed that SPAIF method was as good as FA-USA method. Using the SPAIF method the contrast between the cells and FITC was obvious, and the background was clear and distinct, which did away certain difficulties in detecting Salmonella with FA-USA method. SPAIF method is more suitable for detecting Salmonella in foods.
