Fresh bacterial biofilm produced by Staphylococcus epidermidis was sensitively detected by using a chemiluminescent probe. Its lower detection limit was around 10 -5 - 10 -4 dilution (equivalent to 10 -5 - 10 -4 cm² biofilm) - 10² - 10 3 times as sensitive as ordinary colorimetric methods. The linearity and dynamic range were slightly better than those of fluorometry.
