The activity of the procoagulant of Guerin's epithelioma transplanted into rats is about twice as high as that of the procoagulation in rat artery and vein. This procoagulant is located mainly in the membrane fraction of this epithelioma. It activates coagulation of the normal plasma, plasma without factor VII and plasma without factor VIII. The specificity of Guerin's epithelioma procoagulant determined using plasma of various animal species is not different from that of the procoagulant of rat artery and vein, but is different from the specificity of thromboplastin from rabbit brain. Guerin's epithelioma procoagulant is activated by phospholipase C which suggests presence of a phospholipid component in its structure. The procoagulant is highly resistant to synthetic and naturalinhibitors of proteolytic enzymes. The obtained experimental data allow the conclusion that Guerin's epithelioma procoagulant activates factor X without the mediation of factor VII. This process is non-enzymatic.
