The fine structure of the macrogamonts and macrogametes of E. maxima, a coccidium parasitizing the small intestine of poultry is given. The process of oocyst wall formation was followed by EM. This was mainly attributed to the activities of wall-forming bodies I and II which gave rise to the outer and inner oocyst layers, respectively. Four membranes participated in oocyst wall formation in E. maxima.
