Paragonimiasis: treatment with praziquantel in 40 human cases and in 1 cat

Cure (based on negative sputum Paragonimus egg count) was achieved in 4 of 12 patients treated with a total dose of praziquantel of 60 mg/kg (2 to 3 dosages in one to 2 days), 4 of 5 treated with a total dose of 150 mg/kg (in 13 divided doses given over 4 to 5 days) and in 19 of 22 treated with a total dose of 225 mg/kg (in 9 doses given over 3 days). A cat was successfully treated with 100 mg/kg daily for 2 days.
