All the analogues were active against blood forms of Plasmodium berghei in mice. 3 of them completely suppressed parasitaemia at 3 mg/kg for 3 consecutive days. 2 compounds had a long-lasting prophylactic effect. One compound protected mice against challenge with P. berghei for 45 days following a single dose of 600 mg/kg and it also had a protective effect for 20 to 25 days against P. cynomolgi in monkeys.
