Non-endoparasite transmission of salmon poisoning disease of dogs

Twenty-nine dogs were exposed by aerosol or rectal administration to lymph node suspensions or rectal mucosa homogenates collected from two dogs with salmon poisoning disease (Neorickettsia helminthoeca infection). Infection developed in 27 recipients (13 by aerosol and 14 by rectal administration).
