Tissues of 236 sows obtained at slaughter in Xenia, Ohio, USA, were examined microscopically after trypsin digestion. Sarcocystis bradyzoites were found in 8 of 236 (3.4%) pigs (in 8 diaphragms, 7 oesophagi and one heart) and in 3 of 101 tongues. After these infected porcine tissues were fed to 3 dogs and 3 cats, none of the animals shed Sarcocystis sporocysts in their faeces. [AS].
