Three cases of paraquat poisoning in dogs are described. Toxicological examination of the organs of one animal revealed paraquat in the kidneys and lungs. The animals died 10-14 days after the probable time when paraquat was ingested. At first gastrointestinal disturbances were clinically predominant, but after 4-5 days severe respiratory symptoms appeared. The PM findings were characterized by diphtheroid inflammatory processes intensifying to necrosis in the upper digestive tract, and a haemorrhagic necrotizing pneumonia with incipient fibrosis of the lungs. Therapeutic possibilities are discussed.
