Plasmid SCP2 in the autonomous state is a much less effective sex factor (585SCP1- SCP2+ .times. 24-141 pSO1- recombination frequency < 10-6) than the integrated plasmid SCP1 and the autonomous plasmids pSO1 and SCP2 (strain 617). This plasmid also determines new areas of cross-overs in the genetic maps of S. coelicolor and S. olivaceus.
