To evaluate nutritional status in Ethiopian children extensive surveys were made on preschool and school children from different social backgrounds. The ratio between 4 non-essential amino acids (glycine, serine, glutamine and taurine) and 4 essential amino acids (leucine, isoleucine, valine, methionine) was evaluated for each subject from the amino acid screening results. The normal range was 0.9 to 2.9.
